Garrett Hogan

I graduated with honors in December 2012 from DeVry University with my Bachelor's of Science in Computer Information Systems with a Business Management specialization. This is a very big accomplishment for me because I'm not your typical college graduate. I was 29 years old, married, had two wonderful boys ages 7 and 3, and was expecting my daughter. I am the sole financial provider for my household and have been the entire time I was pursuing my degree. It is important for you to know this so that you can understand how it has developed me into the worker, student, and husband that I am. I relish challenges, the harder the better, and am incredibly determined to succeed at everything I do. Balancing a full time job, family responsibilities, and school has taught me the value of hard work and the satisfaction of accomplishment. I am also an incredibly fast learner at anything I need to learn. I am self-taught in 2 different programming languages, Visual Basic and PHP, just by reading blog question-and-answer websites and how-to websites like ozgrid.com and w3schools.com. I also have 10 years of work experience in a wide range of work environments which has taught me what it means to be a good employee and how to prioritize my work and home life while still maintaining an excellent rapport with my supervisors and coworkers. I have been promoted or given extra responsibilities at Lowes, Rocktenn, and Nestle within the first 6 months of being hired. I am very passionate about software and application development; I love being able to take an idea of mine or someone else's and making it reality. I am broadening my knowledge and experience in all areas of Software and Application Development from front-end design and development using the latest technologies such as HTML5 and Javascript, to Business Logic development using PHP, VB.Net, and C#.Net, and also Database development in T-SQL.
