Gary Fielding

Gary served an apprenticeship in quantity surveying with a multi-national civil engineering firm whilst working on major road and infrastructure projects. Given increasing responsibility during his rapid career advancement, Gary displayed a talent for being commercially creative. Following a move to a national contracting business with a reputation for skill in the delivery of complex heavy civil engineering projects, Gary soon assumed full commercial responsibility for their North-west region and was highly regarded for his work in the development of a very profitable regional business. Being an entrepreneurial individual, Gary subsequently set up his own Construction Services business to provide commercial services, including claims preparation, negotiation and settlement on behalf of a number of major contractors as well as subcontractors. Gary’s success based fee approach served both his customers and himself well and provided the means for Gary’s investment in a number of local businesses in paper, plastics and engineering, all being common to the Bolton area where Gary grew up. Among the Construction Services client companies was a UK based District Heating subsidiary owned, at the time, by ABB. From around 1987 the business Gary had set up provided an increasing range of services as ABB progressively outsourced commercial, project management, engineering and estimating services. Following an agreement reached in 2003 with then owners, Alstom Power, Vital Energi took the place of Alstom in the market and began the work of developing the business according to Gary’s own vision. With roots that can be traced back more than 25 years from its beginnings with a strong core of highly skilled staff members thoroughly grounded in District Heating, the business is transformed today. Vital Energi is respected by many of its long standing customers for its service quality and value, delivered flexibly and with integrity.
