Gary Sirrell

Being a Protect Officer on a Regional Cyber Crime Team I feel that I am at the cutting edge of future Policing. My role involves helping to educate the public, helping prepare Police Officers for the Cyber world, engaging with businesses / organisations in the public and private sectors, and with academia. I have 20 years experience in Law Enforcement from Uniformed and Roads Policing to Specialist Plain Clothes Teams, and Murder Investigation Teams. I have completed the Criminal Investigation Course, and am also a trained Detective Tutor. I have done projects in-Force on subjects such as Policing the Night Time Economy, and Mental Health, and was a member of a National working group working alongside CPS, HMRC, the Home Office, the Surveillance Commissioners, and others, with the objective of reducing bureaucracy in the application for RIPA Authorities (Surveillance Authorities). I am a member of the Staffordshire Police Hostage, Crisis, and Kidnap Cadre. I am an Advanced Police Driver, and member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
