Gary Strack

Gary Strack is a chef and restaurateur who has created many locally and nationally acclaimed restaurants and night spot concepts in Greater Boston. In 1999 he was a pioneer in Central Square with his rustic, Mediterranean inspired cuisine at Central Kitchen. In 2002 he opened the Enormous Room and ushered in the trend of DJ driven clubs in the United States. In 2011 Strack started Firebrand Saints, a gastropub for the innovation and tech mecca of Kendall Square and also in 2011 he started Brick & Mortar, a craft cocktail bar that is nationally recognized as one of the top bars in America. Gary has also worked as a creator and consultant on a number of community based initiatives like "The Wall at Central Square" a free public space for local and national artist which was named one of the 50 Best Public Works of Art in Greater Boston. He was part of the creative team that started the "Starlight Square" initiative turning a parking lot into a public theatre and commercial space. In the Tech sector he helped develop the non profit foundation "Venture Cafe Cambridge" a community networking and educational space with the goal of connecting start-ups with established entrepreneurs. Gary has also helped win coimmisions for numerous nationally acclaimed artists with institutions like MIT, Harvard, Facebook, Takeda, and CIC.
