Genya Smagin

I direct Strategic Partnerships & Web3 initiatives at SK Telecom. I also hold the position of Advisory Board member at SK Telecom Start-up Accelerator (IR, Fundraising). In my previous roles, I oversaw Strategic Investment in the Metaverse & Game industry, with a focus on strengthening our homegrown metaverse service Ifland, as well as our life platforms: wavve, FLO, One Store, and T1 esports. During this time, I spearheaded a number of exciting projects, including the launch of the game streaming service "5GX Cloud Game", the establishment of Asia's biggest volumetric video studio "Jump", and the launch of our very own Metaverse service "Ifland". Additionally, I oversaw collaboration projects and JVs with some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Microsoft, T1 Entertainment&Sports, Facebook, Amazon, Uber, Riot Games, and Kakao. I'm the main author of “SK Telecom 5G Business Diversification. The example of Cloud Gaming” business case and have served as a judge at various investment events, including “K-Startup Grand Challenge 2021, 2022”, “The 2021 APEC Entrepreneurship Program”, “Plug&Play Seoul Startup Pitching Day”, and "Seoul Startup Hub Demo Day". From 2019-2020, I was also a part-time lecturer and “5G Business Development” project mentor at Minerva University. Outside of work, I've had the opportunity to appear as a special guest on some of the most recognizable talk and reality TV shows on KBS, MBC, JTBC, XtvN, including popular titles such as "비정상회담", "문제적남자", "아침마당", "이웃집찰스", "개그콘서트", "양식의양식", and "마녀사냥". I'm also proud to have won an award on the most recognizable education TV show on EBS - “장학퀴즈”.
