About
Hi! And thanks for stopping by. I think that LinkedIn is not only a network to promote your skills, but also to connect with others in your field, and why not, enhance your social circles. I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and lived in Columbia, SC (USA) until the age of 7. I was raised bilingual from an early age. One of the advantages is code-switching, meaning the capacity to shift back and forth between English and Spanish. As a result, when I was finishing high school, I started working as a freelance translator in the fields of Geology, the Film industry and Visual Arts. After graduating from high school, I majored in French at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá. For personal reasons, I withdrew (in Good Standing) from the program in 2007. Since then, I have studied Portuguese at IBRACO (Bogotá) and German at Goethe-Institut Kolumbien. In August of 2013, I moved to Berlin, Germany to further improve my knowledge of German. In October of 2015, I was admitted to Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin where I am currently majoring in English with a minor in Scandinavian Languages. My interests span the fields of translation (Audiovisual, Legal, Literary, Culinary and Fashion), interpretation, linguistics, Cultural studies, Gender studies and Postcolonial studies. In addition, I am certified to teach Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE), and I am quite adamant in bridging the gap between traditional methods and newer technologies. I am incredibly passionate about languages and intellectually curious. I firmly believe that the future resides in teamwork and collaboration, so that we can rise to the challenges and creatively solve the issues of the 21st century.
