Gerard (Gerry) Elmore is a successful barrister that specialises in complex criminal, regulatory and administrative litigation. He is currently a sitting member of the Ipswich Rugby League Judiciary and Disciplinary Tribunal, and sometimes act as Chairperson. He is a member of the Complex Legal Aid Panel, and a Tier 2 (superior court trials) brief-out barrister for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Gerry accepts pro Bono briefs from the Women’s Legal Service. Between January 2023 - May 2023 he took a sabbatical from private practice to work as Special Counsel for the CER. He assisted the regulator in commencing the first civil penalty proceeding for the Regulator in over a decade. The decision is reserved. He appeared as lead advocate in thousands of sentences across levels of jurisdictions and over a hundred trials (both superior court and magistrates court and both criminal and civil), countless hearings in respective applications’ jurisdictions both contested and uncontested. He has appeared in the Court of Appeal in both criminal and civil appeals and successfully represented government decisions makers in judicial reviews in the Supreme Court.
