Gillian Brand

I recently graduated from the University of Chicago with a Master's Degree in Middle Eastern Studies. My interests lie in investigative intelligence, and I am hoping to break into the fields of either intelligence or federal law enforcement. During my graduate studies I was a Senior Research Assistant at the Chicago Project on Security and Threats. While in this role I led the Afghan Taliban team on researching provinces in Afghanistan for the Taliban's presence, writing about the Taliban's propaganda strategies, and composing militant profiles. Recently, I worked as a Research Intern with the African Community Fund for Education where the CEO and I concurrently wrote articles about how Covid-19 has changed the ability for students in rural Africa to attend school. While I was not writing I was copyediting everything from the website to a book. Prior to graduate school I learned graphic design and video production skills (Adobe Suite, Final Cut, etc.) which I have kept up to date and hope to use occasionally in my future professions. Additionally, I am proficient in Microsoft office. I have extensive time abroad in the Middle East and elsewhere and am professionally fluent in Arabic.
