DR. HAMMED OLAIDE SAKIRU

Brief Biography: Dr. Olaide Sakiru HAMMED is a bona fide indigene of Ibadan City, Oyo state, Nigeria. He holds B.Tech. (Hons) in Pure and Applied Physics from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (2001), M.Sc.(Solid Earth Physics and Instrumentation) (2006) and Ph.D.(Solid Earth Physics and Instrumentation) (2012) both from University of Ibadan. He started his career as an Assistant Lecturer in 2006 and rose through the ranks to become an Associate Professor of Solid Earth Physics and Instrumentation in 2018. Dr. Hammed is a visiting research scholar at the International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy. He was awarded UNESCO, IAEA and ICTP visiting research sponsorship to participate in the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics research activities, Trieste, Italy 2009 (twice) and 2010 (once). Dr. Hammed actively participated in professional training programs on: (1) Satellite Navigation Science and Technology for Africa organized by Boston college, United States of America. (2) Non-Linear Dynamics and Earthquake Prediction organized by International Centre for Theoretical, Physics, Italy. (3) From Core to Crust: Towards an Integrated Vision of Earth’s Interior Programs organized by International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Italy. At present, Dr. Hammed, in collaboration with his fellow earth scientists, has published 42 journal articles in peer review journals. Out of these Journal articles, Twenty two (22) are in Scopus data base Dr. Hammed had served and he is still serving at the university in various capacities. To mention few, he was a postgraduate coordinator of Physics Department. Currently, Dr. Hammed is the Acting Head of Department of Physics. He is also the Deputy Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Federal University, Oye Ekiti.
