TLDR: Good at computers, decent at leading teams, always striving for the horizon Always having found a knack for reasoning, logic and abstract thinking, computers came quite naturally for me. Learned programming early on, and decided to get formally schooled at it. Met some amazing people at school and was able to go above the normal curriculum. After study joined Marktplaats, which quite soon was acquired by eBay. Went from Junior PHP Developer to Architect/Trouble-shooter quite rapidly. Technically managed the migration of the platform from PHP to Java/Scala, rebooted multiple stuck projects and dived more into the agile world of cooperation amongst professions. Having learned at some moment I was taking quite some pleasure from coaching other people (though found it often a bit scary), I decided to go into the Management/Leadership side of the technology team, going from a quite small and focussed team to taking up our full App Development team, to great pleasure. I always strive to improve myself, delighted I can keep up with the technical side, and find the pleasure in guiding/leading other people. There is and should always be a vision of where we want to go next, but I find it important to reflect on the ground already covered.
