An experienced employment lawyer with over 20 years of experience at board level who is called upon by organisations from the private, public, and third sector, to assist them formulate their legal/HR strategy in tricky, often sensitive and complex employee relations situations. I am regularly instructed by senior individuals facing or looking to exit and work with them to safeguard their positions, and where appropriate to get them out of their current role with the best possible exit package. Whether I am acting for a business or an individual, my work involves risk managing my clients exposure from a financial and reputational perspective. How do I do this? - by taking the time to get to know and listen to you , understand your needs, and then help us formulate a commercially focused legal strategy, that we both understand and buy into. What I don't do - sit on the fence, quote you the law, get into unnecessary legal arguments, don't answer your calls and charge you more than we have agreed. My sector expertise involves me advising clients in the retail, manufacturing, insurance, private healthcare, financial services, IT, local government, recruitment and transport sector. My work regularly involves planning and providing strategic advice set in the context of a union-backed workforce on issues such as furlough, the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, restructurings, reorganisations, GDPR, redundancy, equal pay, TUPE, and industrial action. I am called upon by both employers and employees (including teams) to advise them on the enforceability of restrictive covenants and confidentiality obligations. I am a tribunal advocate and defend and bring contentious unfair dismissal claims. I am a regular public speaker on employment law issues and devise and deliver training programmes for employers and professional bodies. These have included running interactive role play based "Bullying and Harassment"​ , "Whistleblowing"​ and "Protected Conversation" workshops, case study based TUPE sessions and, presentations on the risk management issues associated with Social Media.
