Harry Jarvie

I am an associate scientist, grade III, in Next-Generation Sequencing. I am a proficient operator that has been fortunate to aid in the establishment of our novel next-generation sequencing department at Marck, Glasgow. My experience in a GMP/GLP environment thus far has granted me invaluable laboratory skills pertaining to molecular biology as well as further developing my communication and team working skills to ensure a cohesive and efficient work environment. Merck has granted me several opportunities to develop myself further and I have done so enthusiastically by becoming a department fire warden, health and safety officer, COSHH officer, STEM ambassador, employee engagement champion as well as team shift representative. In doing so I have have established strong working relations with members of all levels within my own department as well as members of the SLT and external stakeholders. My educational background in zoology and biotechnology have resulted in a keen interest in the prevalence and spread of tropical and infectious diseases amongst the human population as well as research into underpinning genetic components that may provide an insight into mitigation of said disease. I hope to one day utilise my skills and experience in the control and prevention of infectious disease, now more so with the prevalence of Covid-19. I am a dependable and diligent individual that will continually strive to develop my self and work to the best of my ability while ensuring team and business success. As a positive and welcoming team player and feel that building relationships comes naturally to me, I believe I am able to transition to new environments with ease.
