I am taking my experience communicating and educating around the world to nursing. Nursing was a calling for me that I did not know I had until I tried. It feels like I have been training for this my whole life. After writing and educating in Eastern Europe, I moved to Minnesota where I worked as a bilingual aide in an assisted-living with many Russian-speaking clients. My time abroad made me sensitive to different cultures. At the same time, journalism helps me in patient care and education, because I can explain complex concepts in an understandable fashion.Because I have found myself in very uncertain situations while traveling, I know that I keep calm and thrive under pressure. This new nursing career is exciting. It feels so good to use the skills I developed over the last decade and apply them directly to care for people.
