I work in the Employment and Business Immigration team at Willans LLP. We spend all day, every day, helping organisations - multi-national companies, SMEs, owner-managed businesses, not-for-profit organisations - with awkward employee situations. That encompasses anything from handling sensitive negotiations about a departing senior executive, to managing staff transfers or redundancy/reorganisation, to dealing with a long-term ill-health absence, to pursuing an ex-employee regarding competitive activity, or defending employment tribunal claims - and more besides. There are plenty of services out there which offer a ‘one size fits all’ solution for employment law as a compliance function. However we understand that because employment law necessarily involves people, there are as many different problems and solutions as there are individuals. That’s why we take the time to understand our clients as unique organisations, with their own issues, cultures and approaches. Our regular clients view us as trusted advisers, forming an extension of their own HR function. We like to be known for the quality of our work, which we describe as a solutions-driven approach underpinned by technical excellence. We are also not afraid to put our necks on the line – we do not practise ‘defensive’ legal advice.
