Heather Foose

High School Special Education Coordinator and Teacher focused on Independent Living/Transition Skills and Functional Academics. Master of Science in Special Education: Curriculum and Instruction from Northwest Missouri State University. Also experienced in Dance Choreography and Instruction, Musical Theater, Artistic Direction and Event Planning. Head Dance Team Coach for the SMA Glitter Girls Dance Team, Assistant Director and Choreographer for the Theater Department. My goals are to facilitate the best possible learning environment for students with and without exceptional leaning needs and to support teachers in developing engaging and academically appropriate curriculum and positive classroom experiences. I am passionate about providing transitional learning opportunities for high school and adult students with disabilities, and creating opportunities for inclusion at every level of the academic environment. I am also an experienced dance instructor and coach and enjoy working with students to improve their artistic skills and become competitive in the arts. I have choreographed for several theatre companies and schools over the last 20 years. I have also served as a mentor teacher for new educators and as the Tier 1 coordinator for my school’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System). I twice received Teacher of the Month in my building and was twice nominated for Teacher of the Year.
