Hilton Currie

After graduating from Wits University (Bachelor of Science Honours (BSc Hons) Computer Science) in 2003 I started my career as a .Net developer and SQL DBA. In 2007 I was appointed as an IT manager within the organisation and had the opportunity of managing teams of individuals in the development and security discipline of IT. In 2010 I was promoted to the next level of management where I was involved in managing teams but also providing strategic input around system and infrastructure selection as well as the overall direction of IT within the organisation. I later moved into the role of enterprise architect. At a high level, the function of the role was to look at systems and services within the organisation and ensure that they align to business requirements. This role requires a sound technical understanding of underlying architecture to provide insight and roadmaps for the applications/systems going forward. Building good relationships with stakeholders and vendors are key and ensures a sustainable strategic direction for the organisation going into the future. I am currently in the role of Chief Information Officer, looking after governance, risk and compliance globally.
