My first ever job experience was in middle school, were I was paid to be a tutor. Every day after school, I'd tutor kids, specifically in the fields of English and Mathematics. I had the chance to experience teaching and have one on one interactions with scholars; I loved how I could help others gain knowledge and I also loved how interactive I could be with other individuals. In the summer of 2017, I interned for the Alameda County Health Services Agency, specifically in the field of Behavioral Health Services with an organization called Telecare. At Telecare, I got to experience the importance of research, as well as utilize my skills in Microsoft Office and Powerpoint. I also got to interact with mental health patients from different agencies around the East Bay. I had some work experience for about 8 months working at the Oakland-Emeryville Target during 2017-2018. My job as a Hardliner was to stock shelves with quality goods and to provide friendly service to guests. As a Target team member, I had the opportunity to work not only as an individual, but also as a team player when it came to being one of the several Hardline team members. It takes more than one to make sure guests had a more than satisfied shopping experience. I am currently a junior, going into my senior year at the University of California, Berkeley, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science with a minor in Asian American Studies. I am still not sure of what I want to do after graduation, but I am open to many different options (I am still in an area of my life where I am learning and exploring), such as internships, fellowships, part-time work, volunteer opportunities, and everything that will help me connect with folks and find a sense of purpose in what I want to do. UI/UX, product management/design, education, linguistics research, public health, medicine, anything will do, as long as I am helping to make a change in the world and I'm gaining experience, I am excited to find whatever is out there at the moment.
