Holly Ann Forbes McClellan

Holly Ann McClellan is the Manager of the Quality Assurance & Education Department along with Managing the Eligibility Department. Holly started at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in August of 2005. She believes in Vanderbilt’s Pillars and feels effective leaders within the healthcare family uphold people, service, quality, growth & finance, and innovation with a vision of exceeding pillar goals and spearheading transformation. Through her sixteen years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she has had the opportunity to experience healthcare from multiple job perspectives. These experiences have allowed her to view professional scenarios abstractly from a multitude of angles that others cannot. With each position she has entered, she has transformed the role to include improved patient care and long-term growth. Beginning in Quality Improvement for the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, she implemented an improvement initiative that measured days between Near Miss Events, Precursor Safety Events and Serious Safety Events. With the data used, they were able to bring the importance of patient care from every role on the team to the bedside. While working as a Performance Improvement Analyst and Abstractor, she has led the team on data gathering, analyzing, and communicating appropriately to key stakeholders. From this team leadership foundation, she has gone on to construct a Tableau board that houses over 25 metrics of measurement and performance assessments that includes, but not limited to, Emergency Department throughput, Immunizations and Perinatal Care Measures. Furthermore, she implemented the heatmaps used to communicate enforcement and achievement of measures to upper executive leadership. These measures impact VUMC’s STAR rating and include thorough analyzation and implementation. Now, with her most current role serving the Clinical Trials Office at Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center she has already implemented numerous projects to streamline processes within the organization including structuring role delineation and uses a system-based approach to begin to streamline systems like deviations and queries. She takes great pride in her work and in the people, she works with. Her track record and performance reviews from peers and leads throughout her history demonstrate her ability to take on projects, execute objectives with exceptional efficiency, collaborate with others of all status levels, and to lead teams that exceed standards with the help of her leadership skills.
