Holly Stirzaker

I am an ambitious final year student studying Food and Nutrition at Teesside University. I have a strong work ethic as I have managed to combine my studies at university with work commitments and have worked since leaving school. I enjoy working on my own initiative or in a team. My career aspiration is to progress within the food industry as a Food Scientist. Working in a supermarket for a number of years has given my people skills a chance to shine. I enjoy working with the public although it does come with some challenging situations. Good communication skills enable me to effectively deal with difficult customers and liaise with management in order to diffuse stressful situations. It has also given me the chance to develop my team building skills, by effectively working in a team supporting other members of staff in completing tasks. I have also worked as a health care assistant this was to gain care experience. I was able to further demonstrate my team working skills. Work efficiently as part of a multidisciplinary team. Delegating and carrying out duties to reach deadlines whilst working effectively under pressure in busy situations. Good communication skills, were also transferred to the care environment. Working with service users and their families ensuring that families know the clients have the care they need. Furthermore I help care for my younger sister as my parents both work full time.
