Hristo Tanev

I am a researcher in Natural Language Processing at the Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy. I am working on knowledge acquisition from texts, text classification, and related topics. My current research interests are in the area of socio political event detection, geocoding, information extraction, lexical learning and terminology extraction, text classification, and deep learning. I am co-organizer of the CASE series of workshops ( Challenges and Applications of Automated Extraction of Socio-political Events from Text) In 2003 - 2005 I was working at ITC-irst, Trento, Italy on a PostDoc project MoreWeb - Multilingual Question Answering on the Web. My main activities were development of a multilingual Question Answering system on the Web. I was a an assistant professor at the University of Plovdiv "Paisii Hilendarski" until 2021. I was teaching Introduction to Programming and other IT courses. I did my Ph.D. Under the supervision of Prof. Georgi Totkov.
