Ian Pickens

Deciding to become a nurse was a journey for me.I bounced between major after major while in college and could never really find what I wanted out of anything I decided on. Going into my senior year I looked at what it was that I loved most and referred to my time as a counselor for Camp Kesem, an organization focused on providing a summer camp for children who have been impacted by a parent's cancer. Knowing that I needed something with a foundation similar to this, I immediately thought of nursing. Almost three years later, I am an expected graduate from Athens Technical College and am looking for an organization to match my career vision of providing compassionate and empathetic care within the science of nursing. I am interested in a critical care pathway within a high acuity setting, particularly in units such as CVICU, MICU, CCU, and ST/SICU. I am also interested in finding opportunities to grow my nursing practice, particularly in being able to manage CRRT, VADs, Impellas, and ECMO.
