Ilona Murynets

Ilona Murynets is a security engineer (Tech Lead) at Meta’s Internal Detection and Response team. She has technical expertise in machine learning and data science in application to anomaly, insider threat and fraud detection and has 10+ years of research and development experience in design and architecture of information security systems. As a security architect at a well-known financial software company, Ilona led research, design and prototyping of advanced security techniques for insider threat and fraud detection. She developed several alerting systems that continuously over-perform existing solutions from highly respected vendors. As a security research scientist at a major telecommunication company, Ilona invented and patented a novel method for mobile spam detection that drastically reduced the volume of spam messages received by customers. The fraud department had constantly praised her advances in mobile fraud detection. Ilona is passionate about her job, broadens her frontiers in anomaly and fraud detection and is constantly inspired by new challenges in cybersecurity. As a hobby, she enjoys winning coins at ethical hacking CTFs.
