About
I am a compassionate and motivated Clinical Psychologist with a strong interest in Complex Trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. I treat a wide range of mental health problems including anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, depressive disorders, chronic illness and pain, and clients struggling with high emotional sensitivity, and adjustment to grief and loss. I also enjoy helping clients to develop a better work-life balance, clarify life direction, and build their self-esteem and self-competency. I work with individuals ranging from adolescence (16+) to late adulthood. Treatment is tailored to meet each client's needs and goals. This might include therapeutic interventions to better handle distressing thoughts and feelings, learn new skills, and change old patterns of behaviour to engage in new ways of coping in order to live a more rich and meaningful life. I also have extensive training in Relationship Counselling and a passion for helping couple's work through difficult issues (e.g., the aftermath of an affair, breakdown in trust and commitment; extended or blended family issues; and the impact of mental health, trauma, or addiction on the relationship). Skills are also taught to strengthen the couple's communication of emotion and needs, manage conflict, learn to compromise, and strengthen their friendship, intimacy and shared life dreams. Preferred forms of Therapy include: • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy • Schema Therapy • Trauma Focused Cognitive Processing Therapy • Trauma Incident Reduction • Gottman Method Couples Therapy I also have training in: Mindfulness; Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT); Circle of Security Program for parents and caregivers of young children; and Family Connections 12-Week Program for family members with loved ones with Borderline Personality Disorder.
