Ir Khairol NIZAM Mansor CEng FRINA FCILT MIEM

Captain Ir. Khairol Nizam Mansor RMN is a Commanding Officer for Western Fleet Maintenance Depot, Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) where he oversees the logistics management, supply chain and engineering support at the Western Fleet of Malaysia. He is responsible to introduce new technology to improve the efficiency of the depot.Apart from his role in the maintenance depot, he is also responsible for the development and progress of RMN’s Obsolescence Programme which the purpose is to replace ageing RMN ship to sophisticated and technology advanced warship which he leads as Deputy Head of Project Manager.Prior to joining Depot in the year 2019, he was selected to study Master of Science (MSc) Engineering Management at the University of Chester, the United Kingdom under the Chevening Scholarship programme. A Chevening Award is the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). The programme offers awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study for a master’s degree in any subject at any UK university. During the study, he is also was appointed as a student representative and his volunteer project won a prestigious Kirsty Craig Associated Award at the University.  Nizam has more than 17 years experience in the marine industry and warship design, working onboard various ships, navy headquarters and Ministry of Defence as a naval architect, marine engineer, test & development engineers and project manager.He spent more than 10 years of his career, managing a various project, particularly as Principle Naval Overseer for Corvette Refit Programme and as Head of Naval Architect and Marine Engineer department, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Project under Ministry of Defence, Malaysia which value RM9 billion. During his tenure in the LCS project, he is appointed as the government representative which responsible for the design development, logistic supply chain, equipment acceptance test and finance. The highlight of his career is when he spearheaded the launching of the 1st LCS which is MAHARAJA LELA in the year 2018.Nizam was commission as an officer in the year 2002 and holds a MSc in Engineering Management from the University of Chester which he attended as Chevening Scholar. He is also a Fellow of Royal Institution of Naval Architect (RINA), Chartered Fellow for Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport (CILT) and Chartered Engineer (UK).
