I studied Nutrition and Health at the University of Wageningen. During my studies I became more and more interested in food safety. Microbiology and toxicology and the associated legislation in relation to nutrition I find very interesting. The past 5 years I have worked as a senior food consultant at QAssurance. I am responsible for both internal and external audits at our clients. Our clients are small to medium-sized companies. I also implement food safety systems at new clients. This way I keep the clients informed about the latest legislation and changes in the field of FSSC22.000, IFS and BRC standards. An example of one of my tasks in recent years is that I have written more than 200 reports for clients to comply with information sheet 85 of the NVWA and the legislation from Regulation 2073 from 2005 regarding Listeria monocytogenes in ready-to-eat food.
