Irmgard Costa Trachsel

Strong Surgical Pathology background with more than 30 years of experience as a senior general pathologist in Pathology Departments of public and private hospitals. Administrative, technical and human resources management at the Pathology Department of a medium-sized Regional General Hospital (Hospital General de Granollers). Laboratory organization and surveillance responsibilities at the Pathology Department of a large-sized Regional General Hospital (Parc Taulí Hospital Universitari). Specialization in the field of Gynecopathology, with past responsibilities as Coordinator of this field in the Spanish Pathology Society (SEAP) and member of the International Society of Gynecological Pathologists (ISGyP) and of the European Gynecopathology Working Group of the European Society of Pathology (ESP). Research activities in European University Medical and Research Departments leading to scientific publications and congress presentations, with the achievement of a Ph.D. Thesis in the field of experimental breast cancer. Academic and research interests in endometrial and ovary carcinogenesis. Participation in the organization of national and international meetings and author or co-author of more than 50 publications and book chapters. Currently performing tasks of pathologist and laboratory coordinator at Parc Taulí Hospital Universitari and as consultant pathologist at Atrys Health (private practice), as well as associate Professor of Pathology of Medical Degree at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and President of the Catalan Society of Pathology (SCAP).
