Isabel Cobb

As an Economics undergraduate currently studying at the University of Exeter, I am looking to broaden my experience with a placement role in business and finance, combining my passion for maths and knowledge of economics. Before embarking on my undergraduate degree, I completed a short placement at a small accountancy firm, gaining practical experience in the sector. I was given responsibilities such as consolidating balance sheets and using popular programs such as QuickBooks and Excel. My performance led to me being invited back soon after. In my time at Sixth Form, I also attended an insight day at Nomura. This allowed me to explore this industry and get a closer insight into the demands of the fast-paced nature of a career in finance. The skills that I have gained will help me feel very comfortable in a placement role of this nature. I recognise the global demand for careers in business and finance and as a result, would be very interested in travelling as part of my job. I have a passion for languages and spent two years at A Level studying French, as well as having family connections to the country, so am excited about the flexibility of travel available with a career in the business sector. The skills I have gained in communication, networking and working in a client-facing environment make me an ideal candidate for a placement role in business and finance.
