Isobel Staniland

Now commencing a Master of Clinical Psychology postgraduate degree, after the successful completion of the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours). Throughout my studies, I have excelled academically and have grades within the top one percent of all Curtin University undergraduates. Recently, I received a high distinction for my Honours dissertation on 'Perceptions of Early Warning Signs of Intimate Partner Abuse' and will be graduating with First Class Honours. Guided by a strong passion for improving individuals' mental health and overall wellbeing, I am continually developing my abilities in both psychological practice and research. Working as an administrative assistant has proved to be an educational and enlightening environment for me to experience the day to day life of a psychologist. The dedication, time and empathy psychologists give to their profession and clients is a daily motivation. Additionally, my many prior volunteer and paid positions have provided me with an excellent skillset and the ability to interact with diverse populations. My main strengths lie in academic writing, qualitative research methodologies, and case conceptualisations. I look forward to developing my counselling and practical abilities in the Clinical Psychology program and practicums. Family domestic abuse is my area of interest and I look forward to a long career helping those who experience such issues and the related comorbidities. I am continually looking to advance on my career path and develop professionally, and actively seek any opportunity to do so.
