Ivo Sales Costa

Ivo Sales Costa studied architecture at Lusíada University of Lisbon. His early experience was gained in Portugal in collaborations with Gonçalo Byrne’s design studio. He joined Foster + Partners in 2008 to work on a variety of projects around the globe, being involved in the winning bid for The New Slussen Masterplan in Stockholm, 3Beirut - a residential development in Lebanon and the refurbishment of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. Ivo was promoted to Associate after his involvement as design coordinator of a large scale mixed-use masterplan in Shanghai, where he was involved in all aspects of the project from client liaison, planning, tender reviews and on-site early works supervision. Subsequently, he led the coordination of a mixed use, 405 meter supertower in Beijing, Foster + Partners’ tallest building in China to date, being in charge of consolidating the various tenant brief requirements, ranging from world class financial institutions to a 300 room luxury hotel with various special consultant teams. Ivo was the technical coordinator of the iconic Lusail Stadium, the main venue for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, being promoted to Associate Partner in 2016, at a time when he was on-site leading the aesthetic supervision of Lusail Plaza, a 200,000m2 public realm project, a role that he carried for over two years whilst on international assignment. He returned to Portugal to join ARC - International Design Consultants as Lead Architect in 2017, being promoted to Head of Architecture in 2020, leading the architecture team to complete an unprecedented number of projects for a diverse portfolio of clients, including Ministries of Health of several different countries, The Red Sea Development Company and the municipalities of Oeiras and Cascais. Ivo joined Fosun Hive as Head of Design + Licensing in 2021.
