Ivy (Mengyao) Luo

As a former pharmaceutical rep, an enthusiast cell therapy scientist, and a current Kellogg MBA candidate, my mission is to bring more affordable and available treatments to patients and their families. I treat my career path as a “rotation program” in the biopharma industry. Before I came to the US, I worked for Abbott commercial team to transform two drugs’ markets from patent protection to generic status. Driven by the complex nature of biotech innovation, I got my M.S degree in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech. After that, I gained years of experience in cell therapy R&D and developed multiple cell therapy products, including red cell therapy, T cell therapy and NK cell therapy. With our team’s efforts, we successfully made an HPV solid tumor red cell therapy for the first time ever within 2 years. In the cell therapy field, I went through early discovery, process development and I’m familiar with clinical research and product lifecycle. I also hold a Project Management Professional certificate, which helps me build up a comprehensive understanding of pipeline management. After my MBA training, I'd like to work on healthcare innovation and strategy to accelerate the market access of novel treatments, such as gene & cell therapy. At the meanwhile, I am an amateur photographer, food blogger and outdoor adventurer. Life is short, I'd like to extend it in both professional and personal.
