Can a Designer Love to Develop? Some designers just can’t stomach code, period. A few will dabble, and a couple, well, actually enjoy it. I place myself firmly in the latter group. It’s not easy to love designing and developing - but I find that the more I know about one, the better I get at the other. I’m always seeking new opportunities to bring my visual ideas to life, and code is just another tool I can add to the taboret. My focus lies in primary front-end libraries and frameworks since that’s what has the greatest ability to effect the visual appearance of the DOM - something I can readily and easily relate to. I’m persistent, optimistic, collaborative and innovative. I’ve worked in a variety of roles throughout my 20 years of professional experience such as crime scene and malpractice reconstruction for litigation, print design, product development, digital production, innovation, marketing and front end development. This has given me the ability to communicate effectively across many areas of a business, a great help when I’m trying to untangle a complicated problem and come to the best solution with a cross-functional team. Being an inquisitive, questioning and studious type - my wheels never stop turning. I’m always thinking of ways to make a process more efficient, a design aesthetically pleasing, an experience simpler, or a product more viable.
