Early 2017 I was in a fortunate position to start my own company, and I took it! I am a proud Chartered Mechanical Engineer, I love understanding how things work and thinking up new ideas and solutions. Kitesurfing lent itself perfectly to my skills, it meant I can apply my design, structural, fluid and dynamic analysis abilities in a sport that I am passionate about. It also gives me an opportunity to explore everything I can be, and to see the wider picture of my area and understand how I can help shape that. I am keen to encourage more into the engineering profession, as being able to bring your imagination to life is a fantastic skill to have!Chartered Mechanical Engineer - CEng MIMechENI Certified LabVIEW Developer - CLD (to December 2016)Objectives:- Having built a strong base of knowledge and experience as an Mechanical Design Engineer, I am looking to build on these skills, bring innovation and increase accessibility to the kitesurfing industry.Summary:- Founder of Forty1 Kitesurfing, developing products for the kitesurfing market.- 13 years of experience as a Mechanical Development Engineer, developing concepts through to manufacture: plastic injection moulded, sheet metal and cast components.- Analytical and Structured approach to problem solving.- Practical, Analytical and Theoretical knowledge of Structures, Dynamics and Thermal Dynamics.- An excellent understanding of Electrical, Manufacturing and Materials to create a complete product, also incorporating Design for Manual Assembly and performed Failure Modes and Effects Analysis to identify areas of risk within products.- Lead projects and work with other disciplines, including manufacturing, electrical and software.- Proficient in use of 3D CAD, 2D technical drawings, geometrical tolerancing, Finite Elelment Analysis, creating and managing Bills of Materials.- Develop analytical software with LabVIEW, primarily vibration and shock analysis.
