James Fife

I love tour guiding, engaging people with science and discovery, and I get a great deal of satisfaction with my ability and success in the role. I am looking forward to achieving my goals and to build a career in museums and natural history tourism. My history in the sector isn't long, but I have made it count with plenty of volunteering, it all started when I got my first taste of digging and tour guiding at Lancefield, an Australian megafauna site just north of Melbourne. In 2017, following further volunteering at the Dinosaur Dreaming dig, I made the decision to defer my geoscience degree to pursue an opportunity to work at Australian Age of Dinosaurs, a young and vibrant natural history museum in outback Australia. 2018 was unfortunately spent looking after an unwell family member, but I jumped straight back in with another guiding position at Naracoorte Caves, world heritage listed for their beautiful Pleistocene fossil deposits, and have since broadened my experience guiding people through wine at the Wynns Coonawarra Estate cellar door.
