Janet Ferraro

Janet Ferraro is an artist that is passionate about her subject matter. Her journey with horses began long ago. As a child she was always drawing them or pretending to be one. She didn't realize this dream of having her horse until she was well into her 20's. Having a successful business designing and manufacturing swimwear and sportswear in Hawaii her heart longed again for the soothing comfort of her equine friends. She began excersizing polo ponies for a friend. It was true stress therapy needed from running her business. Fast forward several years, Janet moved to California, was married and started a family. Her love for animals and especially horses called to her again. She took up painting, attended college courses and weekend workshops and honed her skills as a fine art painter, drawing on her memory and experience of 25 years with horses. 'I painted many things over the past 20 years, Janet said, 'but my heart always brought me back to the horse'. Janet has focused her painting on the equine subject since 2007, being featured in juried exhibitions every year since as well as having her art collected nationally and internationally. 'I am told that there is a beauty and power that comes through my paintings, a soulfulness of Spirit' Janet said. ' What I know is that my focus and desire is to bring the divine spirit and grace through my art to the viewer. Sometimes what I want to say can only be said through the process of creation.' This passion was never far from her mind as she embarked on a career as a fashion designer at age 22. Her company It's Hot! Hawaii sold to over 1,500 stores over the course of 9 years and was known for comfort, fabulous colors and designs. Janet designed the clothing and many of the fabric prints herself. Running a business with 26 employees in Honolulu Hawaii was a wonderful experience of hard work and dedication. Janet was awarded the 'Young Entrepreneur of the Year' award from the Small Business Administration in 1989.
