Japhet De Oliveira

Japhet J. De Oliveira currently serves as the Corporate Communication Vice President at Adventist Health. Japhet brings decades of global storytelling, communication with crisis management, experience design, and strategic innovation to capture the essence and mission of healthcare. He developed and hosts the weekly Story & Experience podcast with leaders from around the world. Known for his ebullience in discovering and creating stories, he launched a new global online space to share beautiful stories: AdventistHealth.org/Story. He has gathered the quintessential team of creatives who are all brilliant.Prior to joining Adventist Health in June 2019, he led the Boulder Adventist Church as their Senior Pastor for just under 6 years, transforming with local leaders the Church into a model of excellence and joy and founding the Global Resource Collective. With his wife Becky, he hosted a daily podcast for over three years and wrote a daily reflection for the community. Japhet was co-founder of the One project, a non-profit organization that focused on celebrating the supremacy of Jesus in all areas. It produced gatherings all over the world, attracting hundreds of participants each year. He was also a director for 31Grantly a creative space for all writing, design, and production.Japhet served as university chaplain at Andrews University, leading faith development on campus for students, faculty, and staff. He was also co-founder and senior pastor for the One Place community worship service on campus, ministering to a congregation of hundreds of students and families. He was an adjunct professor in youth ministry at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary and served as interim director for the MA in Youth Ministry.Japhet earned his BA in theology and an MA in religion (Systematic Theology) from Andrews University on the Newbold College campus in Binfield, England. He was born in southeast London to a Brazilian father and a Mauritian mother. He speaks conversational Portuguese. Japhet is married to Becky (Crooker), who, even with her recently diagnosed glioblastoma, has successfully defended her Ph.D. She is an educator, communications professional, writer, and qualitative researcher, and they have two wonderful sons - Joshua (23) and Jonah (19).At the end of the day, when I look back on my life, I want to know that I served well and played hard, that my boys and wife are proud of me and that God inspired my leadership to make a difference.
