Born in New-Caledonia, Jean-marc left to pursue his studies at the Hotel, Catering & Tourism Management school of Nice (France). He spent his career in International deluxe hotel brands which took him from Europe to several countries in Africa, opening hotels for Sheraton hotels in various positions. He moved to resorts management in Fiji for his first GM’s position with Shangri-la at the age of 31. He then went to Tahiti where he settled a few years heading the legendary Beachcomber Intercontinental before moving again to Thailand for Intercontinental Hotels & resorts. In Tahiti, Jean-marc was Co-President of the Hotel Association, negotiating with successive governments, tourism bodies, trade unions and actively involved in government tourism strategies. Driver of the new hotel labor collective agreement, he initiated the service charge which became a law in French Polynesia, making tourism industry more attractive for employment. He was also member of Social Security board of directors for many years. Throughout his professional journey, Jean-marc specialized in hotel openings & projects management, maintained the highest competitivity ratios for his resorts or organized business recovery under adverse market conditions. Constantly delivering top rank Guest experience, promoting local culture such as the Melanesian culture in Fiji or the Polynesian experience in Tahiti, he is known to be an inspiring manager and a leader in terms of employee's satisfaction. In Thailand, he drove business partnership and S&M cooperation between HuaHin city main attractions (water park, sport center & Shopping Mall) and re-aligned his resort positioning. In May 2017, he was called to set up "New-Caledonia Tourism development agency" and lead NEW-CALEDONIA TOURISM for 3 years; He then left after a change of the newly elected government's tourism vision. Since May 2020, at the peak of the Covid Crisis, Jean-marc MOCELLIN has returned to Tahiti taking the role of TAHITI TOURISM Chief Executive Officer.
