About

A purpose-driven professional, Jeanette Reynolds (she/her) has more than 15 years of experience in organizational development and program management with a passion for strategic planning and community engagement. In her role with Smith NMTC Associates, Jeanette is part of the New Markets Tax Credit allocation application team, and supports business development and compliance. As a 10th generation Appalachian from rural Virginia and a proud resident of St. Louis city, Jeanette is especially motivated to be working on increasing resources in structurally underinvested communities across the United States. Jeanette has worked in a diversity of roles to strengthen the impact and visibility of multiple nonprofits, most recently as director of the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center - a 75-acre nonprofit facility that serves 13 counties of Virginia's coal mining region. In addition to successfully navigating pandemic challenges, she designed systems and tools for greater efficiency, and increased board of director membership and engagement. This experience built on her success as interim executive director at earthday365, where she provided strategic leadership during a critical transition for the St. Louis-based nonprofit, after previously stewarding the organization through a period of significant growth as programs and communication director. Jeanette first engaged in issues related to equitable housing access as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Fiji, where she managed programs and partnerships for a project focused on providing secure housing for families displaced by natural disasters and conflict. Her work connected residents with economic and educational opportunities. While earning a master's degree in gender & development from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, Jeanette focused on research related to female-headed households, social capital, and collective efficacy. She has also earned a bachelor's degree (cum laude) in communication from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and holds a professional certificate in nonprofit management from the San Antonio Area Foundation, in partnership with Our Lady of the Lake University. Jeanette is dedicated to making positive impacts both professionally and personally – in the past, she has served on the board of directors for Friends of Government Canyon (Texas State Natural Area), has been an active member of the League of Women Voters, and has enjoyed volunteering as a coach for Girls On the Run.
