Jennie Kline Grundey

I come from a family of pharmacists. Both of my parents and both of my siblings are pharmacists...all graduates of Ohio Northern University. I had thoughts of doing something different--just to do something different--but the "calling" was real. All those childhood days I spent with my Dad in an independent pharmacy just made sense when it was time to pursue my own career.I started out in Long Term Care pharmacy. I loved the variety -- from IV dosing to nursing questions to geriatric profile reviews, I enjoyed the problem solving and the teamwork in that setting. When the opportunity came to choose my alma mater a second time--this time as an employee--I was thrilled...but I had no idea just how my heart would come alive in this position. I get to work with student pharmacists as they learn their trade. I watch them grow from kids just out of high school to life-giving healthcare professionals. I serve as an advisor, teacher and mentor. Through their experiential requirements I get to connect them with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals as well as life-changing experiences throughout the academy. I get to work with and visit pharmacists in all areas of practice---some are graduates and/or existing preceptors, while others are mentors in the making. The teamwork, collaboration and relationship building are truly highlights for me in my everyday work.
