2002, I was reading a very interesting article about Jeff Bezos’ future plans for Amazon. A brand new economy was emerging and I wanted to be part of it! Then I received a call from BEA Systems, one of the exciting companies of the moment. Wow! The opportunity was there, so I simply went for it! So I started my adventure as a sales consultant. For me it was simply a matter of applying the skills I had learned previously, like my ‘DNA vision of IT’, my creativity and that 'personal touch’ that drives me to look for the best solution whatever the problem is. Well, I guess it worked fine as I received different awards like the EMEA Top Sales Consultant Award in 2005. Oracle times: I was proposed to lead the Spanish sales consultant team. It sounded fascinating to me even though I was not interested in a management position at that time, but regarding new challenges and opportunities...what else? Things were running like a charm and then, on top of that, three years ago as part of its cloud strategy, Oracle launched the WEDO innovation project, and I was appointed director. The goal of the project is helping Oracle customers to adopt cloud solutions based on the right technical architectures. WEDO team is specialized on collaborating with Oracle's consultant teams and partners to define cloud value propositions for customers in a very direct and practical way: by using WEDO's methodology. That means designing solutions, build them vs PPT, learn from the product and then improve them (does it sound like a lean startup to you, right?) Some other skills I got in my 'toolbox' are my model of motivating and coaching people and building outstanding and focused teams. As a result, I must say that seeing how the people working in my team grow as professionals, while the business goals had been achieved year after year makes me enormously proud.
