Jessica Timlin

After graduating with a bachelor of social sciences degree from UCT, majoring in Social anthropology and archaeology in 2013, I was accepted to do a year long internship, working in the maritime archaeology department at Iziko Museum's Social History Centre. I was given the opportunity to conserve and manage various collections, as well as curate an exhibition and facilitate educational programmes for the youth. Following my internship at Iziko Museum, I was offered a position as an administrator of portfolios for a Forensics Training College known as Forensics for Africa. I was a site administrator as well as a trainer, facilitating the training of SAPS officials in the taking of DNA Buccal Samples for the National DNA Database. Unfortunately, the company had to retrench some employees after experiencing financial issues. I then accepted a contract position at Punk Advertising and Marketing Agency, managing and uploading content for the City of Cape Town website, which was launched at the end of 2016. My official job title was Contract Content Uploader, however, during my time working for Punk and the City I managed to learn basic HTML and managed large amounts of data. I also performed daily maintenance and routine procedures, on Sharepoint CMS. My contract with Punk ended and I was then offered another contract to continue working for the City Of Cape Town Digital Communications Department as a Junior digital writer, including the continuation of website maintenance, content management and general technical tasks (HTML). I have developed various content management and administrative skills working in very different environments, and I do believe each of these environments have provided me with valuable skills and knowledge which have only increased my performance level in the work place. I continue to grow in whatever I do and I think this is what makes me a worthy candidate for any job I choose to persue, or opportunity I am presented with.
