I am an Artist and Cannabis Cultivator in Northern California with Midwestern roots. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2013 with a BFA in Sculpture where I learned to weld, woodwork and create molds. Since graduating, I have developed my own painting style, taught classes, started a non-profit farm to feed those in need, and in 2017 I entered into the Cannabis Industry where I am now a lead Cultivator. My partner and I manage a 120-acre property in Southern Humboldt, California with 10,000 sq ft of growing space in greenhouses. We do two runs per year, totaling 6,000 plants on our property. Canyon Farms has 52,000 sq feet of permitted space between 4 locations. We create the clones for the entire company and have transport manifests to move clones from the nursery to the plots. We manage the nursery year round, holding the genetics for the entire company and running crews to create over 50,000 clones per year. We see genetics through as research and development, get them tested in labs, and choose what we want to move forward with. Moms are created year-round to keep the genetics going.In our greenhouses, we plant in May and pull tarps over our 8 greenhouses for the first run. We prep the entire property in the early spring while we are cloning, and we get our soil tested for custom amendments based on our soil samples. Once irrigation is set and beds are ready, we plant our first run around May 1st. Pests are managed with spray regiments and administering beneficial insects based off needs. We prune, weed and trellis our plants, and we give them Advanced Nutrient's line of products, a compost tea we make each week, and we hand water as needed. We continue to clone during all of this and manage 200 mom plants as we prepare for round 2. July harvest comes quickly, and we harvest our 3,000 plants while immediately custom amending the soil, tilling, laying irrigation again, and replanting to flip the property in a timely manner...usually 3 days. During round 2, we continue to manage pest control, spray, feed, tea, and fix infrastructure. During round 2 we also hold the genetics for the entire company for the following year. Fall harvest in is October and we dry the product for our distribution company to pick up in bulk. We winterize the property and train other employees on the water tanks, plumbing, and other maintenance needs for the 120-acre property before we take December and Janurary off from our full-time, live-in positions. We are about 1 hour from a town and gas station, so planning & oversight is key to our success.
