About
Jinkyun Cho is a building scientist working in the area of the design, construction, operation and evaluation of buildings. He is senior research engineer at Construction & Energy Business Division of KCL(Korea Confromity Laboratories). His major role is to provide testing, assessment and certification solutions for construction engineering materials, HVAC products and green industries while undertaking R&D projects, promoting technological innovation, maintaining global performance to expedite exports in Center for Climatic Environment Real-scale Testing He obtained his BEng, MEng and Ph.D degrees from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. He then worked as a mechanical engineer and design consultant for complex buildings (such as datacenter, high-rise building, healthcare, laboratory and etc.) at HIMEC which is a top MEP engineering firm in Korea. His technical insights and skills into “Environmental and HVAC&R system design of buildings” were matured during his ten year engineering works and Ph.D study. He was senior researcher at Construction Technology Center of SAMSUNG Construction & Trading Corporation (2010~2016) His Ph.D study is a critical, new component of developing the understanding of the HVAC&R system and energy, environmental performance of datacenter with respect to the role of the IT industry, obtain from a combined approach to his own datacenter design works, field measurement and statistical simulation. He has published a series of academic papers for major international referred journals, which have gained international recognition and have cemented his profile as a top academic in the field of datacenter cooling energy performance and air management. He was a member of the International Energy Agency ECBCS Annex 52: Towards Net Zero Energy Buildings.
