About

20 years of experience within the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Communities (IC) building ontology foundries, working in ontology driven systems, research and development, data integration and transformation, policy, program management, and Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) practices and methodologies. Strong ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and expose them to a larger audience. Experience building semantically driven systems and environments. Ontology is the study of the kinds of entities in reality and of the relationships that these entities bear to one another. The goal of philosophical ontology is to provide a clear, coherent, and rigorously worked out account of the basic structures of reality. The product of an ontological process (an ontology) is intended to provide a comprehensive representation of the entities in a given domain encapsulating the terminological content of established knowledge of the sort that is contained in a scientific textbook. Basic Formal Ontology (BFO) is a top level ontology developed for the purposes of promoting interoperability among domain ontologies that are built in its terms through a process of downward population. The structure of BFO is based on a division of entities into two disjoint categories of continuant and occurrent, the former comprehending for example objects and spatial regions, the latter comprehending processes conceived as extended through (or as spanning) time.
