John Hegger

Training was something I had never considered or had interest in. One day, I was “voluntold” that I would be the next field trainer at a police department. With reluctance, I accepted. Once I realized how much I enjoyed training, I wanted to continue helping people develop. I obtained a graduate degree in strategic leadership. It helped me understand organizational behavior, and how to lead so that others will follow. I started facilitating college courses in organizational development. I enjoyed teaching so much, that I wanted to use my education and experience to facilitate criminal justice content. I went back to school and obtained a graduate degree in criminal justice and began facilitating seated and online courses, while continuing to enhance my skills as a training administrator. I’ve taken my personal experiences from working the streets as a law enforcement officer and have grown into a passionate instructor that facilitates both large and small-scale training. I obtained my state issued general instructor certification where I was introduced to the ADDIE model of Instructional Systems Design (ISD). My dedication towards training continues to persist. I began managing statewide projects that included curriculum development for designing and implementing both instructor led training (ILT) and eLearning platforms. I developed training material for onboarding new staff and to enhance the skill-set of veteran employees. I was recognized and awarded the State of North Carolina Badge of Excellence for Innovation and Efficiency by significantly improving a work process or system, and significantly increasing the efficiency of the organization. I’m currently seeking opportunities to advance my growth in the training and development field. I feel that my broad array of experience can integrate with corporate training, government agencies and colleges or universities.
