John Holt

John is an experienced ecologist skilled in a number of field surveys including extended phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species surveys. As a Natural England GCN licence holder John has been called upon to work closely on many projects that affect great crested newt populations. John is also an experienced environmental contractor and has led GCN and reptile exclusion fence installation projects for clients all over the country. John is used to liaising with contractors, clients and the public on sites and working in conjunction with other specialists when delivering environmental mitigation work. He is SSSTS certified and performs the work of a supervisor in his current role as Foreman. He has performed the role of Environmental Site Manager on larger projects and has managed sites during the coronavirus pandemic. John is a trained and proficient 360 excavator operator and dumper driver and is experienced in the specialist use of plant to deliver ecological contracting work. As part of his duties John has been required to write a number of different reports and has experience in producing preliminary ecological appraisals, ecological assessment notes, landscape and ecological management plans, preliminary roost assessment reports and BREEAM. John also has experience writing risk assessments and method statements for works being carried out in ecologically sensitive areas as well as being well versed in the health and safety requirements for environmental contracting and habitat management projects. John’s experience and knowledge as an ecologist combined with his practical experience of conservation and environmental contracting gives John the ability to provide ecological updates onsite while delivering mitigation and habitat management work.
