Over 20 years in the Transportation, I have done everything but "Fly a Plane, Drive a Train, or Captain a Ship." I have made a career of doing things that people have told me, you can't do that. My reply every time was...watch me. Over that time period I have done Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Project Management, Customs, Intermodal, Warehousing, Logistics, Operating forklifts, stuffing and destuffing containers, crossdocking, Driving 1, 3, 5 Ton and Semi trucks. Dry Vans, Reefers, Containers, Tandems, Triaxles, Quads as well as A-Trains and Recruiting. Training Warehouse, Office and Drivers as well as Managing those people. I have moved Cars via Airfreight around the globe. Immunodeficient Mice for Cancer Research, AIDS tainted blood for Research, Human Remains (both casket and urn), Grand Pianos, NBA Basketball Courts and the list goes on and on. I am old school. I grew up in this industry, with several family members and later people whom I call "brothers and sisters of the highway" helping to show me the ropes of almost every corner of this wonderful industry. It is important to me to share and teach the next generation what I have learned within this industry, as it will be in their hands before too long to carry it on for future generations. I firmly believe the greatest assets a company has...are it's employees, which is why it is important to ensure that transition of knowledge is carried forward. Life is a journey. I have traveled most of North America, and there is a reason why the Windshield is 1000 times larger than your rear-view mirror, What lies ahead of you is more important that the past, but you must know where you are coming from in order to know where you are going to. Technology may change but it should never replace Hard Work, Great Customer Service or skill. Never stop learning...its what keeps you young.
