Jon Szekeres

As a producer, reporter, and sometimes anchor at NEWS 1130 in Vancouver, Jonathan has been responsible for helping to deliver a consistent, informative on-air product. Jonathan graduated from BCIT in 2012 with special recognition in sports journalism, before making his leap to the airwaves with 98.9 Jet FM (now The Goat) in the Comox Valley, where he was the morning news anchor for three years. His next stop was in the beautiful Okanagan, where he again anchored the morning news, this time for EZ Rock and Sun FM in Penticton. Jonathan left the sandy beaches and sunshine for Vancouver, where he has happily been at NEWS 1130 since December of 2017. In his short time at the station, Jonathan has already received major recognition, including a Rogers Hero Award, Employee of the Year Award, and CEO Award in 2018. When he isn't chasing down a story, you can find Jonathan watching movies and playing hockey.
