Joseph Shumate

As an optimistic and self-motivated professional with strong character, work ethic, and interpersonal skills, I supplemented my Mechanical Engineering education from Texas A&M University (A&M) with an MBA from Southern Methodist University (SMU), while I continued to work full-time. I consider this a unique and powerful academic combination. After accomplishing my MBA and a five year career as an aeronautical design engineer with diverse responsibilities, I successfully transitioned to a leadership position in program management, fulfilling my passion for customer relationship management, strategic planning, and complex problem solving. I believe in taking ownership of my responsibilities and being accountable for my transactions. I lead my team in this new role by showing initiative and adapting quickly by leveraging my engineering design, manufacturing, and production background, combined with excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
