Jowana Hakim

I started my career in Education immediately after graduating from high school in 1994. I worked as a bilingual tutor for Warren Consolidated Schools from 94’-97’ and then went on to work as an English and Health teacher at Utica Community Schools from 2001 through present. I have worked in many different leadership roles in Utica Schools including Academic and Behavioral Coach, English Learners Consultant, Literacy Consultant, School Counselor and Community Liaison. I have an excellent rapport with parents, staff, administration and speak both Chaldean and Arabic fluently which has helped me tremendously in reaching out to the high influx of Middle East parents and students in our district. I have led, organized, and presented in several professional developments in my district and work closely with counselors in my school and throughout the district to help meet the emotional and academic needs of students. I have a masters in school counseling (2007) and I am currently in the process of obtaining my LPC to expand in my counseling career for the near future.
