Justin Dix

Justin has been at the forefront of the Australian horror and science fiction film industry for many years as the founder and owner of special effects company Wicked of Oz Studios. Justin has over fifteen years’ experience as a top Special Effects Makeup Designer, Art Director and Production Designer, working on big-budget American productions alongside such recognized directors as George Lucas (STAR WARS) and on productions such as CHARLOTTES WEB and THE BANK JOB. Justin and Wicked have played a part in practically every Australian genre film to come down the pipeline in recent years: THE LOVED ONES, RED HILL, 100 BLOODY ACRES, SCARE CAMPAIGN and THE BABADOOK.In 2012, Justin focused his unique creativity and know-how into directing his first feature film, CRAWLSPACE. In addition to the usual jobs of Production Design and Makeup Effects Design, Justin wrote, directed and produced CRAWLSPACE, surrounding himself with an incredible team creating a strong network of mentors and collaborators all eager to be swept up in his enthusiasm. Known for injecting his enthusiasm into each and every project, Justin’s visual work has been recognized internationally, having been brought on to co-produce science fiction TV show HUNTERS with Gale Ann Hurd, legendary Producer of ALIENS, THE TERMINATOR, THE ABYSS and THE WALKING DEAD.In 2019 Justin again returned to the Director’s chair igniting the same passion and experience of world class artisans to make his 2nd feature film, a supernatural vampire movie set in WW2, BLOOD VESSEL.But Justin is not one to rest on his laurels, but rather use the momentum of BLOOD VESSEL to propel interest in his 3rd feature film RIDING HOOD to a thirsty genre public.
